Rich has won many complex cases on behalf of Alabama crime victims. Most recently, he was lead counsel for Alabama in the nitrogen hypoxia case and stood up in federal court to make sure that the Sennett Family received justice for the contract killing of Elizabeth Sennett. The Attorney General thanked Rich for his work on the case.
Ronald Reagan called the Republican Assembly "the conscience of the Republican Party."

Deuteronomy 1:16-17
Rich is an attorney with a quarter-century of appeals experience, and is in his eighteenth year as an appeals prosecutor with the Alabama Attorney General’s Office. Rich has dedicated his career to fighting in the appellate courts for the justice that Alabama crime victims deserve. Rich’s work for the people of Alabama has taken him from courtrooms all across Alabama to Federal District Courts and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. He's even carried the fight to the United States Supreme Court. Every step of the way, Rich has worked to make sure that the victims in those cases were listened to, were kept informed, and that the appellate courts never forgot that a victim’s interest in a case doesn’t end when the verdict comes down.
Rich’s conservative judicial philosophy finds its roots in the instructions that Moses gave to judges when he set up the Israelites’ judicial system. Judges are commanded to judge righteously, to show no favoritism, and to judge without fearing the face of man. Rich will strive everyday to follow those Commandments as he applies an originalist constitutional approach, judging every case on the law and the facts – but without ever losing sight of the common sense that a good opinion must be anchored to. Rich believes that the rights secured by the Constitution, including the right to be armed, are a vital part of what has made our nation great, and judges must respect those rights.

Together, Rich and his wife, Christy, have rebuilt eight historic homes in their spare time. Rich and Christy enjoy taking something old and broken-down and making it new again through grit and hard, hands-on, work.
Rich and Christy are deeply involved in the life of their church, the historic St. John's in downtown Montgomery. Rich and Christy also have a long history of supporting local charities, including Rich's annual charity project baking cakes to benefit a Montgomery charity. Last year he raised over $2,400 to benefit children who've suffered the effects of crime, and this year - in the heart of the campaign - he raised over $2,000 for the Heart of Alabama Food Bank.
Rich's proudest accomplishment is convincing his incredible wife Christy to marry him. For almost eighteen years, they've worked hard, improved their community, and traveled the world together. Rich and Christy are Members of St. John's Episcopal Church in downtown Montgomery.
Many thanks to all the great folks on my Host Committee!
